obert “Bob” Maynard Wright, 88, a 48-year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Lanham, MD died on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Heritage Harbour Health & Rehabilitation Center in Annapolis, MD. Born September 3, 1921 in Omaha, NE, he graduated from McKinley Technical School in Washington, DC and attended the University of Maryland and the University of Cincinnati, studying Mechanical, Chemical and Aeronautical Engineering. He was employed at Ourisman Chevrolet in Marlow Heights, MD as a manager/salesman and at Fitzgerald Auto Mall in Annapolis, MD as a salesman. Mr. Wright served his country in the Pacific Theatre as a P-38 Lightning Fighter Pilot in the Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1946, receiving the 13th Air Force Air, WWII Victory, Air, American Campaign, Philippine Liberation, Bronze Star, Asiatic Pacific, Sharpshooter, and Good Conduct medals. Mr. Wright fought in the New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago, Western Pacific, Southern Philippines, Luzon, China Offensive and Borneo battles/campaigns. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Methodist Church in Washington, DC and Woodland Beach Community Church in Mayo, MD. He was an avid numismatist and also enjoyed collecting stamps. He was the beloved husband of Pastor Martha S. Wright, whom he married October 23, 1948 and father of Robert Maynard Wright, Jr. of Annapolis, MD, Richard Sinnard Wright of Annapolis, MD, James Phillip Wright of Lafayette, CA and Scott Bennett Wright of Crofton, MD. He is also survived by one grandson, Shane B. Wright, and a grandaughter, Caith E. Wright of Lafayette, CA. Friends are invited to Bob's life celebration at Woodland Beach Community Church, 1716 Shady Side Drive, Edgewater, MD 21037 from 2 until time of service which will begin at 3 p.m. Reception immediately following at the church. Inurnment Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
