oberta “Bobbi” Britton Hart, 84, after an extended illness, died peacefully in her Annapolis home on February 16th. Bobbi was born in Mount Kisco, New York, daughter of Robert and Jeannette Britton (deceased). She graduated with a degree in Chemistry from Pace University, and later earned a Master’s degree in Counseling Services at Slippery Rock State University. Devoted mother of seven children, Bobbi was a master gardener, worked in several laboratories as a Chemist, and later as a Counselor for developmentally disabled adolescents. She also served as Activities Coordinator in a Nursing Facility. Bobbi was a volunteer for the Heart Association, Head Start program, and numerous charitable organizations. A lifelong devout Catholic and member of Saint Mary’s Parish, she is survived by her brother, Robert (Norma) Britton of Hendersonville, North Carolina. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Katherine Trimmer, Jeannette Flynn, and Cynthia Booth. She married her husband, James Martin Hart Jr., (deceased) on March 26, 1951, and nearing the end of their 53 year marriage, she nursed him full time through his extended illness. She is survived by her seven children, James (Lyn), Stuttgart, Germany; Matthew (Angela), Palm City, Florida; Maryanne (Edward) Baumgartner, Coronado, California; Margaret (Eugene) Lewis, Columbus, Ohio; Philip (Diana), Reading, Pennsylvania; Michael (Debbie), Annapolis, Maryland; and Andrew (Dina), Arlington, Virginia. Bobbi’s grandchildren are James Martin Hart IV, Jacksonville, Florida; John G. Cumming, Bethesda, Maryland; Erin (Yorick) Uzes, Muscat, Oman; Julia (Georg) Dittrich, Hamburg, Germany; Glen Brown, Palm City, Florida; Kristen (Christian) Riedrich, Vienna, Austria; Erica Baumgartner, New York City; James and Lily Lewis, Columbus, Ohio; Rachael, Jeremy, and Jessica Hart, Reading, Pennsylvania; Connor and Megan Hart, Annapolis, Maryland; Brady and Carson Hart, Arlington, Virginia; and great granddaughter, Mia Dittrich, Hamburg, Germany. Family and friends are invited to Bobbi’s Life Celebration from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, February 24th at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, Maryland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 25th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD. She will be interred beside her loving husband on Prince Edward Island, Canada. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to PMP/Cancer research at www.pmpcure.org, or to the Hospice of the Chesapeake.
