obin A. "Bob" Hastings Sr., 90, a resident of Edgewater, MD for 56 years, died on Saturday, November 17 at his home due to heart complications after a two year illness. Born on September 4, 1928 in Seat Pleasant, MD to the late Olive and Linwood Hastings, Sr., Bob served in the Merchant Marines during W.W. II. He was a carpenter for most of his life. Bob was a member of the American Legion Cummings-Behlke Post 226 and Life Member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, motorcycling, RC flying, crabbing and building model airplanes. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years, Ruth Hastings; his daughter, Olivia Egan; his siblings, Linwood Hastings, Sr., Virginia Howells, Donald Hastings and Jean Anderson and his grandson, Robin Hastings, III. He is survived by his children, Claudia Carnell and Terri (Charles) Weddell both of Edgewater and Robin (Susan) Hastings, II of Jacksonville FL, four grandsons, three granddaughters, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Bob's life at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Friday, November 23 from 4 to 7 PM where his funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 24 at 11 AM.
