ogelio "Roger" Villegas Lactao, 87, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 25, 1938, in the Philippines, Roger lived a life marked by perseverance. He pursued higher education with determination , earning a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of San Carlos in Cebu City, Philippines, in 1958. After coming to the United States, he continued his education and earned a Master's Degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. His commitment to learning reflected a lifelong desire to grow, succeed, and provide opportunities for those he loved. Roger proudly served his country during the Vietnam era and carried that sense of duty, discipline, and patriotism throughout his life. He believed in hard work, personal responsibility, and putting family first. Known for his quiet strength and steady presence, Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He worked diligently throughout his life to build a better future for his family and took great pride in their accomplishments. His wisdom, resilience, and unwavering love left a lasting impact on all who knew him. In his mid-fifties, Roger suffered a stroke that dramatically changed the course of his life. Despite the challenges that followed, he faced each day with determination and courage for more than three decades. Though his ability to communicate was greatly affected, his presence continued to be felt by those who loved him. His perseverance through adversity became an inspiration to his family and a testament to his strength of character. Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Erlinda "Linda" Lactao; his son, Darrell Lactao; and his daughter, Teri Beck, and her husband, John Beck. He was a proud grandfather to Trinity Beck, Jubilee Beck, and Merrily Beck, and a cherished step-grandfather to Alexis McGuire, Victoria Leyva, and Jonathon Beck. Roger took great pride in his family and found joy in watching them grow and build lives of their own. Roger's family finds comfort in the memories they shared with him and in the values he passed on through his example. His legacy of love, sacrifice, perseverance, and dedication to family will continue through the generations that follow. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, hospice staff, friends, and loved ones who provided comfort, support, and compassion during Roger's final days. Though he will be deeply missed, Roger's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Columba Catholic Church, 7800 Livingston Rd, Oxon Hill, MD 20745. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
