Roger Rooney - Obituary

oger M. Rooney, 84, a 12-year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Prince Frederick, MD died on January 19, 2010 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of natural causes. Born November 22, 1925 in Brockton, MA, he graduated from Brockton High School in 1943. Roger was a Corporal in the United States Army during WWII in Central Europe, Northern France and Rhineland. He was employed as a Police Officer in Washington D.C. from March 6, 1951-May 31, 1977, retiring as a Lieutenant. Roger was a member of the Association for Retired Police Officers. Mr. Rooney loved sports, especially the Red Sox, Patriots and Redskins. He was the beloved husband of Hiltrud S. Rooney, whom he married October 7, 1994; stepfather of Peter S. (Sheryl) Harris; grandfather of Anthony, Michael and Julia Harris; brother of John J. Rooney and the late Robert J. Rooney and Barbara McCormick. Services will be held on Thursday, February 25 at 2:45PM at Ft. Myer Chapel. Inurnment Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium.
