Roland Rill - Obituary

oland Vernon Rill, age 90, a resident of Riva, MD for 40 years died on April 30, 2009 at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Washington, D.C. of natural causes. Roland was born on April 12, 1919 to the late William and Nancy Rill in Baltimore, MD where he attended the Strayer Business College and received a degree in Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He served in the US Army during WW II. Most of his working life he was a self employed building contractor, his company was Sarrill Contractors of Baltimore, MD. Roland was a member of American Legion Post 226 in Mayo, MD and he was a Shriner at the Boumi Temple in Baltimore, MD. He enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. Wife- Dorothy A. Rill of Riva, MD. They were married on March 8, 1947. Sons- Robert R. Rill of Plymouth Meeting, PA Raymond R. Rill of Riva, MD Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Friends are invited to Roland's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Wednesday , May 6 from 10:30am until service time at 11:45am. Interment MD Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.
