Ronald Cooke - Obituary

onald A. Cooke, a resident of Harwood since 2007 and previously of Severna Park, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Johns Hopkins University Hospital. Born April 3, 1941 in Washington, DC, to the late Dorothea H. and Bernard F. Cooke, Ronald served in the United States Navy from 1960-65. He worked as an Engineering Specialist for the Department of Defense; retiring in 1994 after a 34 year career. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in West River. Ronald enjoyed playing the guitar and boating. He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Cooke, whom he married on June 18, 1966; two children, Kevin Michael Cooke of Seymour, CT and Debra Renee Cooke of Harwood; two cousins, Lara Morford and Timothy Cooke, both of Silver Spring, MD; also survived by four grandchildren, Daniel Thomas and Sarah Anne McFarland, both of Harwood and Chloe Yvonne and Amber Kaylee Cooke, both of Seymour, CT. Friends are invited to Ronald’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater on Sunday from 2 to 4pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 25 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 101 Owensville Road, West River. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville.
