Ronald L. Johnson - Obituary

onald L. “Ron” Johnson, 91, a seven-year resident of Baywoods in Annapolis and previously of Fredericksburg, VA, died of natural causes on July 30, 2023. Born in Colorado on July 16, 1932 to the late Max and Edith Johnson, he graduated from Golden High School in Golden, CO. He attended the University of Colorado Boulder on a football scholarship and ran track. He held the record in the long jump for many years. While at CU he earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and then a Masters in EE. He subsequently got his MBA from Pepperdine University in California. He loved reading, the outdoors, fishing, sports, and in his early years coaching youth sports. He was very good at fixing just about anything. He devoted his life to his family and career. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Jean Johnson, who died in 2016, and a sister, Bernadine Johnson. He is survived by his children, David L. Johnson of Davidsonville, Denise Pellegrini of Orange County, CA, and Debra Vaughan of Thousand Oaks, CA; his grandsons, Stephen, and Eric Pellegrini; and his sister, Geraldine Coombe of Colorado. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, August 14 from 9:30-10, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 3320 St. Peters Drive, Waldorf, MD 20601.
