Ronald George Miller - Obituary

onald George Miller (Ray), 87, passed away suddenly on August 21, 2018, at his home. Born and raised in Dallastown, PA, he received a Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania State University and later served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army stationed in Japan. Upon returning home, Ray opened his private optometry practice and later worked at Pearle Vision. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, oil painting, and especially loved anything chocolate. PapPap, as he was affectionately known, will always be remembered to the delight of all his grandchildren for his portrayal of Santa at the annual Christmas Eve party, complete with roof stomping and reindeer antlers in the window. Ray is preceded in death by both his parents and sisters. Ray is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, who was his intrepid traveling and camping companion; his three loving children; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ray was also a stepfather and a treasured additional grandfather to their children. There will be a gathering with family and friends on Saturday, August 25 from 3 pm until his memorial service begins at 5 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD.
