Ronney Scott - Obituary

onney Evan “Ron” Scott, 89, a resident of the Eastern Shore and previously of Edgewater, MD, passed away on January 27, 2022 at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, MD following a stroke. Born on March 15, 1932 in Baltimore, MD, Ron was the son of the late Kitty and George Scott. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 as a combat engineer stationed in Korea. Following his military service, Ron pursued careers that spanned more than 60 years. He started as an insurance agent, opened his own agency and earned the trust of many clients for over 3 decades before moving into the construction industry where he spent another 30+ years specializing in home improvements. Because “retirement” was never part of Ron’s vocabulary, he simply moved on from those jobs into teaching and helping family and friends in any way he could. Ron was a lover of all animals and devoted his time to rescuing and caring for any critters that crossed his path. He also enjoyed his memberships at the First Baptist Church in Deale, MD and the American Legion. Ron was preceded in death by his son, Ronney Scott Jr.; grandson, Martin Newburger; and former wife, Ann Scott. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Michael) Newburger of Chesapeake Beach, MD; a brother, Reese (Gail) Scott of Pasadena; one grandson, Michael (Kelly) Newburger, Jr. and four great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Ron’s life with his family from 10:30 a.m. until Ron’s funeral service begins at 12 noon on Thursday, February 3 at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Burial will follow at Loudon Park Cemetery, 3620 Wilkens Avenue, Baltimore, MD. In lieu of flowers, Ron’s family requests donations to any animal rescue organization you choose.
