onald “Ronnie” Edward Lagana, 67, a 41-year resident of Davidsonville, died on Monday, May 14, 2012 at his home. Born on July 27, 1944 in Washington, DC to the late Leo and Mary Lagana, he grew up in Boulevard Heights where he was a volunteer fireman. Ronnie graduated from Suitland High School in 1962 and immediately went to work at the Department of Defense where he enjoyed a 33-year career until he retired from the Defense Mapping Agency in 1995. After retiring, he was employed at Woodmore and South River Golf Courses; he could often be found there after hours working to improve his game. Ronnie was a long-time Redskins fan; he sold football programs at RFK Stadium from 1961 to 1998 and rarely missed a home game. He was active in his community for many years as a basketball and football coach for the Davidsonville Athletic Association. He was also an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda; two sons, Ronald (Jill) of Frederick and Thomas (Jennifer) of Crofton; three brothers, Anthony of Mount Pleasant, SC, Michael of Baltimore, and Steve of Beltsville; five grandchildren, Dominic, Damon, Danielle, Marina, and Annabelle; numerous aunts and uncles, including Frank Lagana of Upper Marlboro; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws; and a host of friends and golfing buddies. Friends are invited to Ronnie’s Life Celebration on Thursday, May 17, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11AM on Friday, May 18 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to acknowledge the tremendous support of Jackie and Pat King, Hank Kinnaman, Ricky Newman and many other family members and friends. Their devotion to Ronnie surely helped him on his journey. Ronnie never made it to Pebble Beach, but Linda can see him now playing golf at the big golf course in heaven.
