Rosalie Brown Huff May 31, 1944 - March 2, 2010 Rosalie Brown Huff was the eldest daughter of Claudius and Rosa Brown. She was born in Washington, DC. Her family later moved to Virginia where she graduated from Luther Jackson High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree from Hampton Institute, Hampton, Virginia. She later studied at the Palmer Institute where she did advanced work in early childhood education. She received an Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Education, a certificate in Gifted Education and a Masters Degree at Howard University, Washington, DC. Rosalie began her teaching career in 1967, at the then new Gibbs Elementary School in Washington, DC. As her educational career evolved, she went on to develop a state-of-the-art media center at the Fletcher Johnson Educational Center in Southeast Washington, DC. Rosalie did not believe in mediocrity and she was a perfectionist. She continued her movement throughout academia by going on to become the director of the Resident Supervisory Support for Teachers (RSST) Program. In this capacity, she provided local and national training for teachers and administrators in Clinical Supervision, when the former director, Delores Carter, moved on to a new position. This program received high acclaim and approval from the Joint Discrimination Review Panel (JDRP) of the United States Office of Education. She later served as an Assistant Principal at the River Terrace Community School in Northeast Washington, DC. Rosalie then went on to become the principal of the Kingsman Elementary School in Northeast, Washington, DC. After several years at Kingsman, she went on to share her gifts and talents with the staff, students and parents of the Anthony Bowen Elementary School in Southwest Washington, DC. While there, she spent her own money to make renovations to the school so that the total school environment would not only be safe but aesthetically pleasing. As she continued her career, she enjoyed receiving current educational training in the Comer Process and Morning Meeting in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Upon retirement from DC Public Schools after over 30 years of service, Rosalie continued to work, serving as consultant to various universities and colleges of which Howard University was one. In this new capacity, she designed and implemented an action plan for the process of accreditation. She made things happen which resulted in Howard University receiving its accreditation. Most recently, she continued this line of work at the Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland. Even though she was fighting cancer for more than 5 Y2 years, she continued to work and inspire others. Rosalie was a strong woman of stature who loved the Lord. She was a devoted member of the Fort Foote Baptist Church in Fort Washington, Maryland, and she enjoyed membership and fellowship there. Rosalie's parents and younger sister, Ave, preceded her in death. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Sedarmocs Club, The Red Hat Society and The CCC Social Club.
