Rosalie H. Potter - Obituary

osalie “Mimi” Helen Potter, 86, a resident of Davidsonville, MD for forty-eight years and previously of Clinton, MD, died peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, August 16 at her home. Born on January 13, 1940, in Washington, DC to the late Sherman H. and Helen M. Smith, Mimi was a graduate of Anacostia High School. She worked at various jobs in retail, real estate, the clothing business and as a volunteer at the Anne Arundel Medical Center Gift Shop, but she was mostly a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Mimi was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was active with the Capt. Avery House, bible study and book club. She enjoyed gardening, bus trips, museums, going to the South River concert series, the Kennedy Center concerts, being with her friends and being a grandmother. In addition to her parents, Mimi was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James S. Potter, Jr.; her daughter, Helen Curry, her brother, Wayne Smith and her nephew, David Evans. She is survived by her son, James S. Potter of Davidsonville and her grandchildren, Travis and Taylor Potter and Savannah Lawson. Also survived by her nieces, Sommer Smith, Elaine Jones, and Linda Rine. Family and friends are invited to Mimi's life celebration on Thursday, August 27 from 10-11 AM, followed by her funeral service at 11, at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD.
