osalie Hampton Waldron
Devoted mother and friend, Rosalie H. Waldron, 91, of Edgewater, and formerly of Gambrills, MD and Alexandria, Virginia, died of cancer at the Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House in Harwood, MD on Thursday September 25, 2008.
Mrs. Waldron was born on October 25, 1916, in Carterville, Illinois to the late Grover and Chloe Hampton. She graduated from Carterville, High School in Carterville, IL and later from the University of Southern Illinois. Mrs. Waldron came to the Washington, D.C. area in the 1940's where she remained except for tours with her husband during World War II to places such as San Diego, where she proudly worked as “Rosie the Riveter†She worked for the Air Force at the Pentagon for 29 years. She moved to Gambrills, MD to Kris-Leigh Assisted Living in 2005.
Mrs. Waldron's son Michael died in infancy but she is survived by her daughter Sandra Dubin and son-in-law Robert of Edgewater, MD and his sons Scott and Kurt. Also survived by 2 great-grandsons. Her beloved only brother Howard Hampton died in March 2008.
Mrs. Waldron volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 20 years and the Caring Collection and devoted her time to her family and many sick and elderly friends. She was a member of National City Christian Church in Washington, D.C and the First Christian Church in Alexandra, VA. She loved the Redskins and to travel and play cards and bingo.
Friends are invited to Rosalie's Life Celebration on Thursday October 2nd, at 11am at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd. Edgewater, MD 21037. Her interment will be in Carterville, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the Caring Collection 1692 N.
