Rosalind L. Yee - Obituary

osalind "Roz" Yee, a resident of Annapolis, MD for over 20 years and previously of Washington, D.C. died at her home on October 25, 2017, following a stroke. Born September 30, 1938, in Washington, D.C., she had a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Affairs from Georgetown University and a Master’s degree in Administration from the University of Maryland. Roz was employed as a Reading Specialist with Prince George's County Schools. She loved to volunteer her time at the White House, Kennedy Center, U.S. Capital, and at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Roz enjoyed great food, traveling and touring DC architecture. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 22 years, John Helmick; also, her mother, Lew Lin Yee, and father, Yick Sin Yee. Roz is survived by her stepchildren, John Helmick II and his wife Jane of Mountain Lake Park, MD, Ron Helmick and his wife Sharon of Centreville, PA and Rebecca Watkins and her husband George of Mount Savage, MD; three grandchildren, Daniel Watkins and his fiance’, Micah Shockney of Millersville, MD, Andrew Watkins and his wife Kim of Centreville, PA and Jody Growden and his wife Marci of LaVale, MD. She is also survived by a cousin, Ying Tang of Hong Kong and two great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Roz's life at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Wednesday, November 8 from 2 to 4 pm. Interment Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
