ose Marie Mascolino, 80, a 4-year resident of Annapolis and previously of Cheverly, MD, passed away at her home on January 9, 2017. Born on April 4, 1936 in Capitol Heights, MD to the late Ralph and Charlotte Vendemia, Rose graduated high school in 1954, married and focused on her greatest passion of being a wife, mother and grandmother. Once her children were out of school, she started a second career, working at Prince George’s Hospital from 1986 to 2008. Rose was a current member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville and previous member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Cheverly. In addition to her passion for her family, Rose enjoyed roller skating, dancing, music, especially playing the piano and organ, teddy bears and the Shenandoah mountains.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Marie Leaman and a brother, Ralph J. Vendemia, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Joseph Richard Mascolino; four daughters, Jo Rita Kelley of Annapolis, MD, Teri Fitch of Dunkirk, MD, Andi DeLeon of Ashton, MD and Julie Witter of King George, VA; three grandsons, Joey Leaman of Annapolis, MD, Albert Fitch of Las Vegas, NV and Cole Drury of King George, VA; one granddaughter, Jennifer Walcott of Philadelphia, PA and one great-grandson, Chase Walcott.
Friends are invited to celebrate Rose’s life with her family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 12 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 13 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD. Burial will private.
