Rose Shaw - Obituary

ose Durkin Shaw, 95, a 20-year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Leisure World in Silver Spring, MD died February 20, 2009 in Annapolis, MD of natural causes. Born October 19, 1913 in Detroit, MI, she received her high school diploma from Notre Dame Academy in Washington, D.C.; her Bachelors of Art Degree in Home Economics from St. Joseph's College (now Mt. St. Mary's) in Emmitsburg, MD; her Masters of Art Degree in Special Education from the University of Delaware in Newark, DE. She was employed as a teacher in Wilmington and New Castle public schools. Her memberships included the Cosmos Club Widower in Washington, DC. She enjoyed music, travelling and spending time with friends and family. Rose spent the last five years of her life in the Ginger Cove Health Center, where she was cared for with dignity and affection. She was the beloved wife of the late William H. Shaw, whom she married in 1942 and who died in 1988; mother of Peter Shaw of Stockholm, Sweden, Moira Dehn of Davidsonville, MD, Kevin Shaw of Upper Marlboro, MD and Elizabeth Coe of Palo Alto, CA; she is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to Mrs. Shaw's Life Celebration on Saturday, March 7 at 2:00 P.M. at the Friendship Hall at Ginger Cove. Interment private.
