n the morning of Saturday, June 23, 2007, Roy Joseph DeMesme, Jr., surrendered peacefully to God's call to come home after a lengthy illness. Known to many as a “soldier for the Lord,†particularly during the later stages of his illness, Roy Jr., fought the good fight, finished the course and kept the faith. He found peace and rest in the arms of the Lord. Roy, Jr., was born on January 14, 1972, in Washington, D.C. He was the devoted and loving son of Roy Joseph DeMesme, Sr., and Evelyn Teresa DeMesme and the loving brother of Germaine Anthony DeMesme. Educated in the State of Maryland public schools, Roy Jr., graduated from Oxon Hill High School in Oxon Hill, Maryland. He was remarkably popular with everyone. Roy Jr., always exhibited the utmost respect for all he met. He will be truly missed by his community. Roy Jr., attended the Metropolitan Police Academy. He was employed by Watson Wyatt Worldwide and MCI for a number of years. Roy Jr., enjoyed his leisure time, particularly travel, sports and gatherings with family and friends. All who knew Roy Jr., was blessed by him. A lifelong Catholic, he was a man of great faith, strength and an inspiration to all. He rarely complained during his illness and had a winning smile and a “thumbs-up†to comfort those around him. Roy was supportive of and dedicated to his family. He leaves to cherish his memory loving and devoted parents, Roy Joseph DeMesme, Sr., and Evelyn Teresa DeMesme; grandparents, Lorraine DeMesme and Teresa Proctor; and a host of devoted uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Roy Jr., leaves to celebrate his life his loving daughter, Tiara, and loving son, Roy DeMesme III, and a special friend, Annette Hicks. Roy Jr., will be greatly missed. We love you Roy, Jr., but God loves you best. Sleep well… Relatives and friends are invited to Roy's Life Celebration on Thursday, June 28th at St. Columba Catholic Church, 7800 Livingston Rd.
