Roy Dean - Obituary

oy T. Dean, Sr., a 52-year resident of Edgewater and previously of Hyattsville, MD, died on April 27, 2009 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center of natural causes. He was 92. Born in Washington, DC on March 28, 1917 to Andrew and Maud Dean, he graduated from Mt. Rainier High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and worked for the Government Printing Office for 35 years, retiring in 1972. He enjoyed camping, antiques and fishing, and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater, the Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Post 226 in Mayo. He was predeceased by his wives, Mary Louise Dean, whom he married in 1939 and who died in 2001, and Ruth Elizabeth Dean, whom he married in 2006 and who died in January of this year. He is survived by one son, Roy T. Dean, Jr. of Greensboro, MD; a daughter, Janice Aisquith of Pensacola, FL; a brother, Andrew A. Dean, Jr. of Clearwater, FL; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to Roy's Life Celebration on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 30 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road, Edgewater, MD. Interment Ft. Lincoln Cemetery.
