Roy Eugene Johnson - Obituary

oy Eugene Johnson, 80, of Edgewater, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018. Born on July 6, 1937 in Carroll Township, PA to the late Sarah and George Johnson, Sr., Roy worked throughout his career in construction. He enjoyed fishing, mowing his lawn, playing horseshoes and simply being outdoors. Most of all, Roy loved spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his sister, Joany Dove. He is survived by his daughter, Diana Dettman; two brothers, George Johnson, Jr. of Maryland and Vinny Johnson of Texas; one sister, Elaine Fricke of Florida; two granddaughters, Ceara Dettman and Taylor McHenry, both of Maryland; and two great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Roy’s life with his family from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 24 at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Roy’s name to the charity of your choice.
