Roy M. Morauer - Obituary

oy Morauer, 88, a 25-year resident of Edgewater, MD, originally from Prince George’s County, passed away at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD on Friday June 21, due to complications associated with a recent stroke. Born on May 3, 1936, in Washington DC, Roy graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1954 and attended American University. He owned and operated multiple local businesses, including car washes, gas stations and a bowling center. Roy was very active in the daily operations of his businesses along with his business partners and later, his two sons. He was also a private pilot and enjoyed flying his plane each Sunday morning for over 2 decades. Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Gail Morauer. He is survived by his two sons, David (Terri) Morauer and Ryan (Erika) Morauer, and his four grandsons, William, Charles, Sergio and Alexander. Friends are invited to celebrate Roy's life on Monday, July 1 from 5 to 7 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 2 at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Davidsonville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
