uby O. Surber 84 of Davidsonville, previously of Alderson, West Virginia, died on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Spa Creek Center in Annapolis from natural causes. She was born on March 10, 1925 in Dorr, West Virginia to the late Edgar and Viola Wimmer. She received her nursing degree from Allegheny County School of Nursing in Clifton Forge, Virgina and a Master's Degree in Nursing Administration from American University in Washington, D.C. She was a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, D.C. before retiring. Mrs. Surber was a member of Davidsonville United Methodist Church in Davidsonville. Her hobbies included reading, quilting, bird watching and doing crossword puzzles. She married James L. “Pete” Surber on June 6, 1949; he died on March 10, 1998. Ruby is survived by her son, James David Surber of Davidsonville, two brothers, Charlie Wimmer of Woodbridge, VA and Marcus Wimmer of Sandusky, Ohio, one sister, Erma “Teny” Booher of Las Vegas, NV and three grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to Ruby's Life Celebation on Friday, March 13 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM, with prayers at 7:30PM at George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd. Edgewater,MD. Interment in Union Cemetery, Union, W. VA. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy., Annapolis, MD. 21401.
