Rudy Bass - Obituary

udy Bass Rudy Bass, 70, a 21-year resident of Edgewater, MD, died of cancer on February 27, 2009 at his residence. Born April 30, 1938 in Speedwell, VA, he was a graduate of Speedwell High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1955-1959. Mr. Bass was employed as a manager at Aireco for over 40 years. His memberships included the American Legion, American Softball Association, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis, MD and Steamfitter Union, Local 602. Rudy was an avid softball player and coach; he played in the Senior Softball League and has coached women's softball. He enjoyed fishing and loved his grandchildren. He was the beloved husband of Dianne M. Bass; devoted father of Randy Bass of Damascus, MD, Michael Bass of Crawfordsville, IN, Joe Leizear of Severna Park, MD, Lisa Leizear of Los Angeles, CA and Laura Larson of Warrenton, VA; and brother of Helen Richardson and Polly Bobbitt, both of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by 12 loving grandchildren. Friends are invited to Rudy's Life Celebration on Tuesday, March 3, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, March 4, at 10am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.Â
