Rudy Mattera - Obituary

udy Mattera, 93, a 2-year resident of Bay Village Assisted Living in Annapolis and previously of Edgewater, MD, passed away on September 17, 2024. Born on January 27, 1931 in Washington, DC to the late Michael and Adelaide Mattera, Rudy was a decorated U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Korean War. He went on to enjoy a career as the owner of a successful printing company in partnership with his brother, Francis. A devout Catholic, Rudy was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater, MD, involved in many parish activities. He was also an avid gardener. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mary, who died in 2014; a brother, Nicholas and a nephew, Michael. He is survived by his brother, Francis of Annapolis; nephew, Nicholas Mattera and his husband, Bradley Gretter of Washington, DC; and sister-in-law, Olive Mattera of Annapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 25 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road, Edgewater, MD.
