R

uperto Doctor Pega Jr., aka ‘Jun’ passed away at home on November 3 rd , 2020 due to cardiac arrest. He was born on November 26, 1952 in Camarines Sur in the Bicol region of Luzon in the Philippines. Jun joined the Navy in 1972 with 20 years of service, he then employed with the Federal Government State Department in Washington DC for 14 years, also worked with the Department of Defense for about a year, and lastly worked as a contractor in Fort Belvoir. Jun lived a full adventurous life where he loved to fish and catch crabs off the pier while living in Virginia Beach. While indoors, he always showed off his cooking skills, singing skills, and encouraged music in the house of all genres and played guitar and piano all by ear. He is survived by his wife, Myrna Saquilayan Pega, his son, Bryan Saquilayan Pega, his daughter Barbara Pega Bennett aka ‘Barbie’ and son-in-law Matthew Lee Bennett. Family and friends are invited for the visitation at the Kalas Funeral Home & Creamtory, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, Maryland 20745 on Saturday, November 14 th from 2pm-6pm, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat. A repast will be held afterwards, and we will announce the location during the visitation.
