Russell Tedesco - Obituary

ussell P. Tedesco, 66, passed away on September 8, 2014, in Annapolis, Maryland after a brave and courageous battle with heart and lung disease. Russ was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on February 14, 1948, son of Antoinette and Patrick H. Tedesco (dec’d), brother of Dorris Wojcik (dec’d) and Geraldine Wright (dec’d). Russ received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and a Master’s Degree from Bowie State University. He honorably served as a Police Officer for the United States Army. He later joined the Prince George’s County Police Department in 1973. After serving the citizens of Prince George’s County for 20 years, and rising to the rank of Captain, he retired from the Police Department in 1994. Thereafter, he served as the Director of School Security for Prince George’s County for twelve years. Russ completed his professional career working with the Department of Homeland Security. Russ is survived by his loving wife, Eileen, to whom he was faithfully married for more than 36 years. He was the proud father of Patrick E. (Hillary) and Matthew C. (Kate). Russ was a loyal and devoted Washington Redskins and New York Yankees fan. He thoroughly enjoyed reading,cooking, boating, golfing, and most of all spending time at the beach with family and friends. Russ was truly the most selfless and caring person and he will forever be missed and loved by all. A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM on Thursday, September 11 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11AM on Friday, September 12 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Edgewater, MD.
