R

uth Ann “Ruthie” Fantozzi, 73, a 15-year resident of Brooksville, FL and previously of Edgewater, MD, died June 26, 2014 in Brooksville. Born on November 9, 1940 in Washington, DC to the late Charlotte and Fred Schroeder, Ruthie graduated from Suitland High School in 1959. She worked as a secretary for 10 years in the medical office of Doctor Allen Jensen in Annapolis, MD. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the Washington National Cathedral choir, often singing solos during the Easter and Christmas services. She also sang with the Von Trapp family in Vermont. Ruthie’s other interests included reading, ceramics, dancing and music. Most of all, she enjoyed raising and spending time with her cats. Ruthie is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph J. Fantozzi, Sr.; her loving son and daughter-in-law, Joseph J. and Kim D. Fantozzi, Jr. of Owings, MD; loving daughter and son-in-law, Carisa Fantozzi and Wade Parson of Keller, TX; one brother, Michael Schroeder of La Plata, MD; three sisters, Kara Mayhew of The Villages, FL, Lori Allen of Silver Spring, MD and Tina Foreman of Clarksburg, MD; three granddaughters, Shana Higgins of Lothian, MD, Kayla Fantozzi of Owings, MD and Madison Parson of Keller, TX; and two great-grandchildren, Braden and Jayde Higgins. Friends are invited to Ruthie’s Life Celebration from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014. Burial will take place at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hernando County Humane Society, 7224 Mobley Road, Brooksville, FL 34601 in memory of Ruth A. Fantozzi.
