Red Cross Volunteer
On May 23, 2015, she passed at her daughter Karen August’s home in Severna Park. A 53 year resident of Ft. Washington, MD. She is predeceased by her beloved husband James in 2000. A wonderful mother to Susan Kimball, Karen (Britt) August, Maryellen Anderson and Elizabeth (David) Selzer. A blessed grandmother of Shelby August, Connor and Kyle Anderson and Max and Daniel Selzer.
She was born on May 15, 1924 in Dorchester, MA. The youngest of seven children, she was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Mabel Heffernan.
Ruth served in the Womens Air Corps (WAC) in WWII during the Blitz in London, England. She was a Red Cross Volunteer for 30 years at Malcolm Grow Hospital at Joint Base Andrews. She leaves her wonderful neighbors and her best friend, Anna P. Norris. We loved her very much and she will be missed.
Family and friends may call at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd, Oxon Hill, MD on Sunday, May 31 from 2 to 4 pm. Interment at a later date with Military Honors at Arlington National Cemetery. Please sign the online guestbook.
