Ruth Adeline Knold - Obituary

R

uth A. “Ady” Knold, 92, a resident of Country Homes Assisted Living in Harwood, MD, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021. Born on October 20, 1929 in Fallen Timber, PA, Ady’s father, Joseph L. Marks, was a coal miner and World War I veteran. Her mother was Anna (Schumaker) Marks, a German war bride. After graduating from Reade High School in 1947, Ady moved from her family’s Pennsylvania mountain-top home to Washington, DC where she met her husband, Marvin “Knobby” Knold, a Navy chief aviation mechanic. As a Navy wife, Ady moved with Knobby to Quonset Point, RI and Naval Air Station Key West, FL. The couple eventually settled in Jacksonville, FL where they raised their two daughters, Anita Lynn and Pamela Sue. A large part of Ady’s life centered around Park Lane Baptist Church where she was the church secretary for 36 years, “training” the pastors and making her famous “monkey bread” for all the Sunday school children. Ady was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and both of her daughters. She is survived by her brother, Bob Marks, of Newton Falls, OH; sons-in-law, David Foy of Harwood, MD and Doug Kohl of Callahan, FL; and granddaughter, Regan Foy of Glen Burnie, MD. There will be a funeral service at the Park Lane church on Tuesday, November 2nd, followed by a family interment at Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ady’s memory to Park Lane Baptist Church, 1480 Lake Shore Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205.
