Ruth K. Reed - Obituary

uth K. Reed, age 99, formerly of Potomac, MD and Rockville, MD, passed away peacefully at her home in Edgewater, MD on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Born Ruth Violet Kneipp in Lancaster, PA to the late Michael J. and Daisy Emma Leibley Kneipp, she attended Lancaster Public Schools and graduated from the old Stevens High School for Girls. After graduation, Ruth worked in the Leo I. Hain Insurance and Real Estate Office. After several years, Ruth and her mother moved to Washington, DC where she worked for the McInerney and McCarthy law firm. After staying at home to raise her daughter, Pamelia, she worked for the U.S. Government Department of AID for 19 years. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Pamelia Reed Robinson of Edgewater, MD; her granddog, Ave Maria, and several cousins. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her only sibling, her older brother by 14 years, Charles “Duke” Kneipp and her former husbands, Charles W. Frantz and Randolph W. Reed, Jr. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 29 at 3 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD.
