uth Anne Godfrey Waple was born in Olney, Maryland, on September 15, 1937, and passed away on May 23, 2018, due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Prior to living in her retirement home in Waugh Chapel, Maryland, she was a long-time resident of Shady Side, Maryland for over 20 years. She graduated from Gaithersburg High School as part of the class of 1955. She went on to hold many prestigious positions. Her last position before retirement was working as an executive secretary for Calvert Cliffs nuclear power plant.
Ruth Anne was a constant in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a devout Christian, spending most of her later years in service to her church and congregation. Ruth Anne led a full life and enjoyed bowling, quilting, boating, and travelling the world via sailboat with various Christian organizations. During retirement, she was an avid puzzle solver and adored caring for her orange cat, Rusty.
Ruth Anne was preceded in death by her mother Ottie; twin sister Mary Lou; and daughter Deborah.
Ruth Anne is survived by her children Jay (Deni), David (Jenny), and Sandra (Phil); and a brother Roy (Ruthann). Ruth Anne / Mommom lived a full life, surrounded and revered by her 18 grandchildren and (almost) 20 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to celebrate Ruth's life on Wednesday, May 30 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 31 at 10;00 am at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Annapolis, 710 Ridgely Ave., Annapolis, MD. Interment St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, 16603 Briardale Rd., Derwood, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of the Chesapeake
