Sally Gaskins - Obituary

ally A. Gaskins, 84, a 40-year resident of Edgewater, died December 1 at her home after a lengthy illness. Born on December 19, 1928 in Washington, DC, Sally graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington. She devoted her life to making a comfortable home for her husband and six children. Sally was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help for over 40 years. She had a green thumb and enjoyed both indoor and outdoor gardening. She also enjoyed cooking, antiques, visiting Ocean City, boating on the South River and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Sally was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William P. Gaskins who died in 2011 and a granddaughter, Theresa Robb. She is survived by six children: William Gaskins, Jr., Susan Coates, Robin Robb, Christine Edmonds, David Gaskins and Sarah Kerr; 12 grandchildren, Laurie Lehman, William Coates III, Wendy Morris, Donald Robb, Tammy Sollenberger, Michelle DiMarco, Shannon, Matthew and Jamison Gaskins and Abby, Greg, Caroline and Lily Kerr; and nine great grandchildren. Friends are invited to Sally’s Life Celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A Memorial Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 5 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road, Edgewater. Interment private.
