Sally Jean Salkeld - Obituary

ally Salkeld, 89, of Annapolis, MD sadly passed away on April 15, 2023 after a full life well lived. Sally was born to Culver and Eleanor Ladd on January 24, 1934 in Bismarck, North Dakota. A kind and caring wife and mother, Sally faithfully served her husband, Raymond Salkeld, and children, Dana, Dale and David. As Ray worked hard to build the family business, Willard Packaging of Gaithersburg, MD, Sally was a dependable source of support and wisdom to him and a warm, loving and respected mother as she raised her three sons. In the 1970’s, Sally and her family fell in love with the Chesapeake Bay and found joy in escaping to the South River where boating kept her young boys entertained, kept Ray away from the demands of the work week, and bonded their family in a special way. She passed on her love for the Chesapeake Bay, which now extends to four generations of Salkelds. Her family will remember her sunny and optimistic attitude, her sweet, kind, patient nature and her constant, steady voice of reason. To Sally, her family was always a priority, a quiet, simple life was valued, and her warm smile and giggle welcomed all she met. Sally is survived by her three sons, Dana (Robin), Dale, and David (Kim); 10 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and her brother, Culver Ladd. Private arrangements to commemorate Sally’s life will be planned in the future.
