Sam Dollard - Obituary

etired Navy Commander Sam Dollard, 52, a resident of Edgewater for 11 years and previously of Bolling Air Force Base, died suddenly of a heart attack Dec. 23 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Cmdr. Dollard was born Dec. 25, 1954, in Seaford, Del. and graduated from Bishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia, Pa. He earned a degree in history from Temple University, and earned a master's and a doctorate degree from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He worked as a defense consultant with Booze, Allen and Hamilton in McLean, Va. Cmdr. Dollard served in the Navy for over 20 years. He loved history and enjoyed travelling with his grandsons. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Jennifer L. Dollard; two daughters, Jessica Ann Dollard-Barr of Edgewater and Victoria Elizabeth Dollard of Columbia; one brother, Lawrence Dollard of Philadelphia, Pa.; one sister, Katherine Dollard of Philadelphia, Pa.; and four grandchildren. Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:45 a.m. March 5 in the Fort Myer Chapel in Arlington National Cemetery, where interment will follow.
