andra “Sandy” Leona Taylor, 70, passed away on September 29, 2025 after an eight-and-a-half year, fierce and courageous battle with cancer. Throughout her battle, her faith in God never wavered.
Born on October 27, 1954 in Annapolis, MD to the late Kenneth and Emma Taylor, she was a lifelong resident of Edgewater, MD. A graduate of Southern High School class of 1972, Sandy worked early on as a seamstress and was determined to learn the canvas and upholstery trade. She spent fifty-three years in that trade. She passed the Master Fabric Craftsman test and was president of the Chesapeake Marine Canvas Fabricators Association for ten years. She was a former partner of Creations by Taylor and owned Sandy’s Coverings.
Sandy loved teaching Sunday school in church. She was a lifelong Baltimore Orioles fan and enjoyed going on Orioles cruises for over twenty-five years.
Sandy is survived by her brothers, Michael (Gail) Taylor of Easley, SC, Barry (Sharon) Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, NC, and Dana (Kim) Taylor of Edgewater, MD; her sister, Bonnie Taylor of Edgewater, MD; twelve nieces and nephews; and her longtime companion David Bryant.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Sandy’s life on Friday, October 3 from 6 to 8 pm at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD, and again on Saturday, October 4 from 11 am until her funeral service begins at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Christ Episcopal Church cemetery in Owensville, MD.
