Sara Blank - Obituary

ara Ruth Crary Blank, a 30-year resident of Bowie, MD and previously of Upper Marlboro, MD, Tantallon in Ft. Washington, MD, Capitol Heights, MD and Asheville, NC, died at Anne Arundel Medical Center of complications from congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation on Friday, December 1, 2015. Born September 4, 1925 in Asheville, NC to the late Sara F. and Roy E. Crary, she received her A.A. degree from Prince George's County Community College, her B.S. degree from Bowie State University and her M.A. degree in Gerontology from Antioch University. Sara was employed as the Conference Director of the National Council on the Aging, an event planner at the YMCA Camp Letts, LimoScene and was the Vice President of C.B. Contractors. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, writing and her computer. Sara was the devoted wife of 60 years of the late Paul Blank; beloved mother of Roy (Kristin) C. Blank of Fort Mill, SC, Victor (Linda) P. Blank of Little River, SC and Whitney(Carl) Caricofe of Grasonville, MD; sister of Eleanor Caruthers of Colonial Beach, VA; grandmother of Matthew and Zachary Blank of Charlotte, NC, JonPaul Milliken of Prince Frederick, MD, Rachel Franks of Charlotte, NC and Heather Rubenaker of Denver, CO. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Saturday, January 30 at 1pm.
