Sara J. Kurtz - Obituary

ara Jane “Sassie” Kurtz, 71, of Annapolis Maryland, died suddenly at home on November 21, 2021. Born in Lancaster, PA, on Dec. 5, 1949 to the late Jack D. Kurtz and Gloria Jayne (Heller) Kurtz. Ms. Kurtz graduated from Middletown Area High School, PA, in 1967. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD. She completed her MEd at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. She retired from Anne Arundel County Public School System, after teaching in Maryland for over 20 years. She loved teaching and helped many students thru various organizations over her teaching career. In 2014, she adopted her beloved dog, Finnigan. Her hobbies included, shopping, collecting antiques, and reading. Surviving are her two brothers, Gregory Kurtz of Greensboro, NC, and Stephen Kurtz of Crofton, MD; one niece, Jennifer Mace-Kurtz of Sparks, MD, and three nephews, Ryan Kurtz of Glen Burnie, MD, Donald W Brown III of Herndon, VA and Tristan Brown of Woodbridge, VA. A celebration of her life will be planned for the spring, date and time to be later announced. In lieu of flowers, please consider making contributions to your local food bank.
