Selma Burns - Obituary

elma Catherine Burns, 87, a 9-year resident of Charles Town Retirement Community in Catonsville, MD died at St. Agnes Hospital on May 6, 2010. She was born September 28, 1922, and raised on Long Island, NY and retired to Columbus, NC. Mrs. Burns was an avid reader, creative cook and baker and accomplished seamstress and knitter of intricate designs. For 41 years she was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Peter Burns, who died on January 2, 1985; mother of Sharon Cook of Annapolis, MD, Eileen Purcell of Ridgewood, NJ and Jennifer Burns of Hollywood, FL; grandmother of Heather Lutz, Leah Cook, Molly Purcell; great-grandmother of Austin and Bassem Lutz. Friends are invited to Selma's Life Celebration on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD from 11:30am until Mass of Resurrection begins at 12:30pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Doctors Without Borders USA, P.O. Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
