Shawn Michael Smith - Obituary

hawn M. Smith, born on May 15, 1976, passed away on March 13, 2026. Shawn lived a meaningful life—one filled with purpose, generosity, and a quiet strength that lifted everyone around him. To know Shawn was to love him, and everyone who met him felt that instantly. Shawn had a remarkable way of lighting up any room he entered. His sense of humor, adventurous spirit, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on his family, friends, and colleagues. He had a gift for making people laugh and a unique ability to remind those around him that no problem was ever too big to face. He loved deeply and without hesitation. Shawn adored his dogs, who were never far from his side, and he cared for the people in his life with the same unwavering devotion. No matter what he had going on, he always made time for others. If someone needed help, Shawn showed up—every time, without question. That was simply who he was. He is survived by his sisters, Shannon Smith‑Wood and Jean Smith; his brothers, Stephen Smith and Michael Smith; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him more than words can express. Shawn dedicated much of his life to helping others. When he wasn’t working or spending time at Mike’s, you could find him on the golf course, restoring cars, or riding his Harley—always chasing his next adventure. Wherever Shawn went, laughter, loyalty, and a sense of ease followed. He will be so deeply missed. His memory will live on through the stories shared, the laughter he inspired, the love he gave so freely, and the countless lives he touched. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Shawn's life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd. Edgewater, MD on Monday, March 30th from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. Following the memorial gathering, all are welcome to join us for a Celebration of Life from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mike’s Restaurant & Crabhouse, 3030 Riva Road, Riva, MD 21140.
