Shirley Rhea Allwein - Obituary

n Saturday, March 25, 2017, Shirley Allwein passed away peacefully at Anne Arundel Medical Center surrounded by her family. Shirley was born March 2, 1937 to Mildred and Rhea Rohn. She was an Anne Arundel County resident all of her life and attended Annapolis area schools. A talented artist, Shirley enjoyed crocheting, sewing, drawing and painting. She also loved animals and enjoyed watching wildlife. She was a volunteer for the Anne Arundel County Fair for over 30 years and a member of the Moose Lodge 2279 in Shady Side, MD. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Allwein; her brother, John Rohn; and sons, William Martin and Josuf Allwein. Shirley is survived by her children, Lorraine Shepherd, Richard (Patti) Martin, Susan (Scott) Grieve, Donna (Kevin) Geiman; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Arlene O’Dell, Paul (Susan) Rohn, Michael Schwallenberg, Patricia (Walter) Klein; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to celebrate Shirley's life on Wednesday, March 29 from 10 am until a service begins at 11 am at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD.
