Shirley Ames - Obituary

hirley Marie Ames, 76, died on Wednesday, January 15, 2013 at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. Shirley was born on November 12, 1937 in Riverhead, N.Y to the late Melkiah and Sarah Bell. She was married to her husband, Albert A. Ames on October 18, 1957. She was a Registered Nurse and attended St. John School of Nursing in Brooklyn, N.Y. She also received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional and Liberal Studies from Dowling College, Oakdale, N.Y. in 1976. She received her Masters Degree from Stoney Brook University, Stoney Brook, NY with a Degree in Personnel Management in 1978. She loved shopping, going on vacations and watching Family Feud. She is survived by her husband, Albert A. Ames; her children, Michele Houge (Jeffrey Hogue), Yvette Murphy, and Sarah Dick (Curtis Dick); her grandchildren, Terrell Watkins, Robert Branham, Nicole Branham, Domingo Copeland, Tiffany Copeland and Monica Coleman. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
