Shirley Garofalo - Obituary

f Accokeek, MD passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. As a devoted mother and friend, she will be missed by the many lives she touched. She is survived by her husband, Matthew John Garofalo of 54 years, a son Jeffrey Garofalo of Falls Church, VA, and daughters Ann Marie Garofalo-Gebauer (Peter) of Fredericksburg, VA, and Cheryl Lynn Garofalo of Gravette, AR. Also surviving are sisters Jacqueline Peterson of Tempe, AZ and Alyce M. Hernandez of Youngwood, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to Shirley’s Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745 on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church of Piscataway (Main Church), 13401 Piscataway Rd., Clinton, MD 20735 at 11am on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Interment Arlington National Cemetery on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 3:00pm. Those attending the graveside services should meet at the Administration Building NLT 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the charity of one's choice.
