Shirley Quick McKenzie - Obituary

hirley Quick McKenzie, a 68-year resident of Edgewater, MD, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. Born on March 28, 1935 in Dillon, SC, Shirley was the youngest of 4 children born to the late Arthur and Viola Quick. She is preceded in death by her siblings Harold Quick, Clara McCown, and Earl Quick and her beloved husband of 60 years, Milton McKenzie. Shirley and Milton were married in Dillon, SC and moved to Maryland in 1953 where they raised their three children. Shirley was a homemaker and the absolute best mother and grandmother anyone could ask for. She was a fantastic southern cook and enjoyed trying out new recipes for her family. She was also an avid Redskins and Orioles fan but nothing made her happier than being around those she loved and who loved her. Shirley was the ultimate caretaker and showed her love through all she did for everyone. She was affectionately called Nana by her family and countless others who she adopted as their second Mom/Grandmother. Nana was the center of her family's world and will be dearly missed. Shirley is survived by her children, Pamela Williams (Mike), Milton "Rocky" McKenzie, Jr., and Sharon Boulter (Bill); her grandchildren, Sara and Emma Boulter and Jenny and Chris Williams; as well as her two great granddaughters, McKenzie Williams and Olivia Boulter.
