Shirley Schleicher - Obituary

hirley Ann Schleicher, age 82, of Edgewater, MD, died on April 17, 2015 Shirley was born to the late Harry Leroy Graves and Margery Graves on November 23, 1932 in Alexandria, VA. After graduation from Mount Vernon High School, she began a lengthy career with the Federal Government. She married her late husband, William R Schleicher, in 1958 and resided in Barboursville, VA until relocating to Edgewater, MD in 1989. Her warmth and caring was evident in her love for animals, friends, family and even those she would soon call friends. She had a magnetic personality and even a stranger would feel like a long-time friend within minutes of talking to her. Whether it was a helping hand or cause, Shirley would take the initiative to get things done with focused tenacity. She was an avid gardener, crafter, decorator, and loved to entertain and have a good time. She is survived by a sister, Jackie Inscoe of Fairfax, VA, two nieces, Denise Wright of Fairfax, VA. And Diane Horton of Alabama, one nephew, John Inscoe of Fairfax Station, VA., numerous nieces and nephews from her late husband and her dear friends Wes Parker of Glen Burnie, MD. And Jan Messick of Prince Frederick, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's memory to a charity of one's choice. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 3rd from 3pm until a memorial service begins at 4pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Interment at Ft Lincoln Cemetery will be private.
