Socorro Vidanes - Obituary

ocorro (Coring) T. Vidanes, 90, of Lorton, VA passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024. She was the widow of the late Sergio Doverte. Socorro was born on October 19, 1934, to the late Teofila Vidanes and Manuel Vidanes in the Philippines. She grew up in Pandacan, Manila (Philippines). She moved to the US in the late 70’s and worked for The World Bank for three decades. She loved going to church, spending time with family, singing Karaoke, and dancing. She had an adventurous spirit and was always ready to explore different experiences. Socorro is survived by her sisters, Eleodora Payabyab and Victoria (Baby) McMahon; sister-in-law, Rebecca Vidanes (Carlos); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Socorro was preceded in death by her brothers, Juanito Vidanes and Carlos Vidanes; and brother-in-law, Feliciano Payabyab (Eleodora). On Monday, November 4th, family and friends are invited to gather from 9-11 AM at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory: 6160 Oxon Hill Road Oxon Hill, MD 20745. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, November 4th at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Piscataway: 13401 Piscataway Road 13401 Piscataway Road Clinton, MD 20735.
