Stanley Mefford - Obituary

tanley E. Mefford, Sr. “Stan”, a 7-year resident of Edgewater and previously of Glen Burnie, died August 18, 2010 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born May 24, 1935 in Nyssa, OR to the late Tracey and Thelma Mefford, Stan graduated from Nyssa High School in 1954 and then began a 4-year tour in the U.S. Army. After leaving military service, he made a career with the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company that lasted 39 years until his retirement. During that time, Stan supported BGE in a variety of areas including lineman, appliance service, and heating and cooling. An avid Ravens and Orioles fan, he also enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises. In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death by his sister, Carylee Mefford. Stan is survived by his wife Charlotte Pantaleo-Mefford of Edgewater, two sons: Stanley, Jr. and Michael Mefford and their mother, Vincenta (Lanaza) Mefford all of Glen Burnie; a stepson, Chris Pantaleo of Boston, MA; two brothers: Clifford Mefford of Boise, ID and Glenn Mefford of Ontario, OR; and one sister, Berniece and her husband, Harvey, Easton of Fruitland, ID. Friends are invited to Stan’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037 on Monday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8pm. A funeral service will be held at Heritage Baptist Church, 1740 Forest Drive, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Tuesday, August 24 at 11am. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
