tella Jerry Tshontikidis, 86, a 6-year resident of Satellite Beach, FL and previously of Baltimore, MD and Vail, CO, passed away on May 11, 2016 at her home after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer only a week earlier.
Born on April 24, 1930 in Charleston, SC, Stella graduated as Class Valedictorian from Memminger High School in Charleston. In 1958, she married her husband, Sava. Stella was a devoted wife, loving mother to three young boys and homemaker when she supported her husband in opening Laurel Dodge in 1964, and together, they owned and operated the company until 2009. Stella also loved to volunteer. She was a member of Leadership 100 in the Greek Orthodox Church and a parishioner of Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Annapolis where she actively participated in the Philoptochos Society. She was also a member of the Annapolis Yacht Club. Stella enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, playing golf, cross-country skiing and boating.
Stella was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Sava Spero Tshontikidis, who died in 2013. She is survived by three sons, Spero (Caryn) of Satellite Beach, FL, Jerry (Jeannie) of Chester, MD and Tom (Sandy) of Agua Dulce, CA; three grandsons, Sava Anthony, Yanni and Sava John; and two granddaughters, Emma and Alaina.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Stella’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 19 at Ss Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. Burial will be at St. Demetrios Cemetery.
