S

tephen “Steve” Michael Berry passed away on April 3, 2022, at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital at the age of 69. Steve was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Oxon Hill, Maryland. He graduated from Oxon Hill High School in 1971. As a young man, his love of cars landed him a job with Texaco before finding his permanent career calling with PEPCO. He retired from PEPCO in 2011 with 33 years of service. Steve was a self-taught guitarist who co-founded the band, Four of a Kind. The group became a local favorite and played together for many years at various venues. Steve took after his dad with his expansive knowledge of how to build and repair most anything. He deeply loved his family and friends. He loved the outdoors, traveling and learning about history. He also enjoyed guitar and amp repair and modifications, gardening and in recent years, cooking. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Richard J. Berry Jr., both maternal and paternal grandparents; and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Catherine “Lucy” Berry; mother, Marion J. Berry; brother, Richard (MaryAnn) Berry III.; brother, Christopher (Collene) Berry; and sister, Janice (Donald) Gray. He is also survived by his aunt, Marion Fonseca, as well as cousins and multiple nieces, nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Casual attire such as blue jeans and sweatpants are appropriate attire at the celebration of Steve’s life that will take place from 4 pm – 6pm, on Saturday, April 30 at the Kalas Funeral Home, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to consider donating to the American Stroke Association or to any charity of your choice.
