teve Fogarty, age 62, a 17-year resident of Gambrills, MD died on Sunday, July 22 at his residence after a brief battle with cancer. Born on February 11, 1950 in Waterbury, CT, Steve graduated from the University of Connecticut and enjoyed a long career in finance and accounting, becoming a mentor to everyone he touched. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Steve was passionate about his family, faith, pets and his lifelong love of music led him to sing, write songs and play the guitar. A member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crofton, MD, Steve was very active in their music ministry and helped start their contemporary service. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 15 years, Sheila M. Fogarty; three daughters, Beth Fogarty and Mary Fogarty both of Crofton, MD and Jill Fogarty-Peaper of Harwood, MD; two sons, Nick Starobin of Austin, TX and Tony Starobin of Crofton, MD; a sister, Lee Schuermann of CA; a brother, Bill Fogarty of Litchfield, CT and two granddaughters. Friends are invited to Steve’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Thursday, July 26 from 7 to 9pm. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Crofton, 1370 Defense Hwy., Gambrills, MD on Friday, July 27 at 11:00am. Interment will be private.
