TEPHEN HARNESBERGER WILLIAMS (Age 72) After a brief illness, Stephen H. Williams, “Steve”, beloved husband of ILONA DULASKI for 45 wonderful years, died peacefully at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, on Sunday, November 23 at 3:45pm. Steve was born in Lexington, Kentucky on Dec. 31, 1941 to Dr. and Mrs. Edwin Gantt Williams. Steve grew up in Bethesda, MD, then moved to Battle Creek, Michigan, where he graduated from Harding Academy. He received a B.S. degree at Jacksonville University in 1964 in Business Administration, where he was the Technical Director for the Theatre Dept. for two years. Steve earned his Union Card as a Theatrical Technician with I.A.T.S.E. Local 115-Jacksonville (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees). This led to a very successful 50-year career of working as a technician on Production Contracts all over the country. He has worked on Broadway, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago, Canada, Washington, DC, Canada, etc.. Steve worked as a Stagehand for Local 22 in Washington, DC, for 22 years before retiring in 2001. He proudly served as President of Local 22 for 2 years. Steve had quite a few things he enjoyed in life. He loved traveling with his wife to Spain, Alaska, Scotland and Wales, Bermuda. He loved sailing. He loved to leisurely sail across the Bay trolling a fishing line, catch the fish and then cook the catch immediately while sailing. He enjoyed entertaining. He enjoyed serving steamed crabs caught right off the pier, and serving them to friends, family and Midshipmen from the Naval Academy. Steve is the proud Sponsor of seven wonderful Midshipmen: Logan Robert Oliver (First class); Rob Vachon, Jacob Rothstein, and Justin Trujillo (2nd Class); Grant Guttschow (Youngster); and, Christina Louie and Kyoto Li (Plebes). Besides his devoted wife, Steve is survived by his sister, Kate Hemer, of Seattle, WA, sister; Dr. Mary B. Williams, of Thomaston, GA, brother-in-law Benedict J. Dulaski, of Avon, IN, and wonderful and loving nieces and nephews. A celebration of Steve’s life will take place on Dec 8, 2014 at 2pm Christ Congregational Church, 9525 Colesville Road Silver Spring, MD 20901.
